Aug 28 - Oxford to York

Bus left at 8:30 this morning. Kim played us our day song. It is a song that she plays every morning first thing to get our day started. There was only about 10 of us (the Canadians) that new the song. It is "Home for a Rest" by Spirit of the West. Everyone was looking at me funny as I was singing along but I didn't care, its a great song! We learned a few other things about the bus, like coacheokee. Basically the way it worked was that is someone was late getting on the bus then they had to sing a song at the front of the bus to whatever song we chose. Good Fun! Also while on the bus this morning (as it was about a 3hour drive) we played get to know your neighbour. Everyone changed seats every few minutes and got to know each other. It was fun but on day 2 of the trip, I lost my voice playing this fun game and to this day haven't received it totally back yet. ugh... :)

Got to York and Kim took us on a walking tour of the town. It was pretty small but there was lots to see. We then had a few hours of free time. I just hung out with a couple of the girls and we did some shopping.

We all met back up at the hotel at 6 where we then walked to the restaurant to have supper. Supper was really good (I actually can't complain about the food at all for the whole trip...weird huh?). I tried Yorkshire pudding, which isn't even a pudding. Its a cake that is drenched in gravy. Tasted pretty good though. I talked the lady at the bar into making me a paralyzer. She looked at me strange when I started drinking it but boy was it yummy! :)

After supper we had a ghost tour around the town. It creeped me out a little I have to admit, but it was cool anyway. York is said to be the town that has had the most ghost sitings in the whole world. It was raining on and off which made it pretty chilly at night but we survived. Out Ghost tour leader dropped us back off at the hotel were we had about 10min to get ready before we headed out to a bar called the "Reflex". It was 80's Disco night and a few of the people in our group dressed up. The bar was crazy busy and we had lots of fun. There was a really huge lazy susan that was in one part of the bar that turned constantly. It was really fun and a few of us (me included) danced on it.

  1. I don't blame you for singing along...I have that song on my ipod right now! Sounds like you showed them how we let loose in Canada lol
