Aug 30 - Edinburgh

Well today was our free day in Edinburgh. Breakfast was at 9:15 and then we all met at 10 so that Kim could purchase us bus passes for the day. Brandi, Kelly, Steve and I headed up to Arthur's Seat. Arthur's Seat is this pretty high mountain that looks out over all of Edinburgh and surrounding towns. It took us about one hour to climb up this hill which was (for the most part) straight up. I took many breaks and had just about given up when a couple in there 70's or so came down past me and said that I could do it. I felt like a weakling then because if they could do it, I should be able to do it. Once at the top, the whole walk was worth it! What a fabulous view. We only stayed at the top for about 10min and then headed back down. Not even 20min later we were back at the bottom.

Tonight was our big Scottish Night out. We went to a nice place for supper where I tried haggis (gross!) and had some really yummy salmon for supper. Then Andy the Scottish bagpiper came and played for us. He had a great sense of humour and played really well. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

It was pretty chilly out today but no rain, so we couldn't complain. Back at the hotel that night we just hung out and played cards. I was in bed before 11 that night. Climbing a hill/mountain is exhausting! ;)

  1. Looks like a fun group to hang out with! Good for you for trying the local cuisine, but haggis is gross :P

  2. Good job Bon! I'm pretty sure you're going to be able to compete in a triathlon when you get back, with all the climing and stairs and walking and such! :)
